ANSI/IES RP-8-18 Committee Members Don MacLean and Paul Lutkevich will introduce the new standard in standards, Recommended Practice for Design and Maintenance of Roadway and Parking Facility Lighting. This incredibly ambitious and accomplished endeavor puts all of a number of previous Standards regarding Roadway Lighting into one comprehensive tome.

Ray will go through in detail how photometrics are developed for roadway lighting solutions via goniophotometer and how they applied within the calculation software, including TM-21 Reports. He will also provide a discussion and review of RP-8-18 Chapter 3 – Calculations.

This presentation will provide an overview of a new PNNL study investigating whether converting to LED roadway lighting suggests any discernible influence on driving safety. PNNL is partnering with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission and Virginia Tech Transportation Institute on this project that includes more than 60 municipalities in the Philadelphia region.
