This course will provide an overview of the lighting and lighting controls related provisions of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Standard 90.1 v2016, “Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings”. This course is not eligible for CEUs.

This course will review the lighting controls requirements and options for meeting the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) to include commercial sections C405, (Electrical Power and Lighting Systems), C406 (Additional Efficiency Package Options), and C408 (Maintenance Information and System Commissioning. This course is not eligible for CEUs.

Each of the 5 courses in this series will focus on various aspects of light to include scientific principles, terminology, the human visual system, how lighting impacts our comfort and well-being, luminaire design and metrics, and a glimpse at how lighting design professionals apply their skills. This 4-part series will give the learner an understanding of wireless technology for lighting controls. Sessions will cover the advantages and disadvantages of wireless lighting controls, how wireless technology was developed, how a basic wireless communication system works, radio frequency signal characteristics and the challenges they present to wireless networks, and details on some of the most popular wireless networks and standards used today including Bluetooth and ZigBee. This course is not eligible for CEUs.
