About this Course

The IES offers Educational Webinars throughout the year, purposefully spanning a broad range of topics and speaker expertise. This was a live webinar, now available as an archived webinar and CEU course.

Description: D4i brings a long-awaited standardization for luminaires. D4i is an intra-luminaire subset of DALI2 that enables intelligent, connected, future-proofed LED luminaires. As the IoT and ‘smart connected devices’ become more commonplace, the lighting industry recognizes the advantages a D4i based smart lighting solution offers the industry. For starters, D4i introduces international standards to digital lighting technology, encouraging interoperability across solutions and components. D4i also does more than control lights. It expands communication capabilities of a smart lighting system. D4i drivers inside the luminaire are able to store and report a wide range of data in a standardized way. The LED driver provides DC power, has AC power monitoring, and diagnostic information that can be extracted. It also gives the luminaire the capability to power and communicate with sensors on the D4i intra-luminaire bus. Furthermore, the simplified wiring connections available with D4i makes it simpler and more cost-effective to install and maintain. After participating in this webinar, you will know more about DiiA and the D4i specifications and how to future proof your luminaires. Smart Lighting and standardization for luminaires is happening today.
