About this Course and Tool
The IES offers Educational Webinars throughout the year, purposefully spanning a broad range of topics and speaker expertise.
Description: PNNL researchers deployed more than 30 distributed spectral sensors at a federal building in downtown Chicago. The sensors record the SPD every 3 minutes, resulting in over 100,000 data points daily. Research objectives include characterizing the amount of light in the vertical plane throughout the day, how different circadian metrics vary throughout the day, the pros and cons of distributed sensors, and understanding if the sensors can speed commissioning of lighting systems designed to meet circadian recommendations.
Key:
Sarah Safranek
Lighting Research Engineer
Sarah Safranek is a lighting research engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Her current research involves conducting lighting simulations and field evaluations of advanced lighting systems in support of the U.S. Department of Energy Lighting R&D program.
Michael Myer
Senior Researcher
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
Michael Myer is a father, husband, and cat wrangler – when not tied up with those activities, he works for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy lab. At PNNL Michael supports Appliance Standards, energy codes, and market transformation of new technologies. Michael continues to support lighting moving into the next age of technology being digital technologies.
