Description: This webinar will help explain outdoor lighting at airports as it relates to the airspace, airport context and BSR/IES RP-37 Recommended Practice: Lighting Airport Outdoor Environments. Lighting recommendations will be discussed from the perspective of stakeholders at airports including aircraft pilots. Participants will better understand the environment where the lighting is positioned, how lighting assists tower control and ground services, proper positioning of lights, glare control, and field verification. Vertiport/heliport lighting for new modes of transport will also be addressed.

Richard Larivée

Richard Larivee is an electrical engineer since 1987.  Active in airports and transportation projects with planning, design, audit, training and technical support.  He is an ICAO expert for the Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau for more than a decade. He is a member of the International Electrotechnical Committee TC97 - electrical installations for lighting and beaconing of aerodromes. He is one of the founding ‘’fathers’’ of ANSI/IES RP-37 and chair since.

Greg Reilly

Greg Reilly serves as the vice chair of the IES Airports and Heliports Lighting Committee. He is also an Associate Vice President with AECOM. He specializes in electrical, lighting, and communications design for aviation and roadway projects and has many years of experience. He has provided electrical designs for large-scale engineering projects for various airports, DOT’s, railroads, and other high-profile agencies across the country. He holds an electrical engineering degree and is a professional engineer in 13 states.
