About This Course

The Advanced Energy Design Guide for K-12 School buildings is one of a series of Advanced Energy Design Guides, which have been developed with input from the committee members of a joint partnership of organizations including ASHRAE, the American Institute of Architects, the Illuminating Engineering Society, the U.S. Green Building Council, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). With funding from the DOE Building Technologies Office, NREL adapted the information within these books to produce the material presented in this 12-module, 8 hour course intended for anyone who serves as a designer for a zero energy building.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, as it pertains to K-12 buildings, learners will be able to:

1. Discuss the process and factors to consider when designing a zero energy building.
2. Describe best practices and procedures when it comes to zero energy building design
